Job bait, sedative-laced drink: 2 arrested for sexually assaulting woman in Tamil Nadu lodge
TUTICORIN: Two men were arrested on Monday on charges of sexually assaulting a young woman. They allegedly lured her with a false promise of employment and drugged her.
Police said the duo, i.e., Balamurugan, 32, of Arumugamangalam near Srivaikuntam, and Jayapal, 34, from Ramanathapuram district, befriended the survivor, a resident of Srivaikuntam area.
Under the pretext of helping her get a job, they took her in a car to a private lodge at Ervadi near Ramanathapuram.
Police said the accused mixed a sedative in her drink and sexually assaulted her when she became unconscious.
The survivor lodged a complaint on Saturday. A case was registered, and the accused were arrested. They were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody at Palayamkottai prison on Monday.
