Teacher attacked in school, robbed of cash, chain
Madurai: A unidentified gang attacked a school teacher inside the school premises and stole cash and a gold chain from him. The injured teacher was treated in a hospital for cut injuries.
The incident took place at the CSI Primary School in South Marret Street in South Gate Police station limits on Monday evening.
Based on a complaint from the teacher identified as J Selvakumar, 42, from Pasumalai in the city, a case was registered against the three-member gang.

A gold chain worn by the teacher weighing three sovereigns and Rs 40,000 were robbed from him.
According to the teacher he had gone to bank in between the school hours and had withdrawn the money. He suspected that the gang could have followed him from the bank. The gang demanded him to part with the chain, but he refused. So, they inflicted injuries on him forcing him to give away the cash and chain.
Once they left, Selvakumar screamed for help. A police team visited the campus and conducted an inquiry. They are checking the CCTV footage available nearby to find out the identity of the robbers.
