Sr officials take stock of smart city works

Madurai: Additional chief secretary, municipal administration and water supply, Shivdas Meena, and municipal commissioner P Ponniah took stock of developmental works carried out under smart city project in Madurai city on Saturday. Underground drainage works to the tune of ` 291.37 crore are underway. The officials inspected laying of main pipes and connections to the pumping station at Sambakulam in ward 10 of zone 1.They also inspected Periyar bus terminus, the upcoming shopping complex nearby and multi-layer parking complex near Meenakshi temple.
The officials inspected construction of the over head tank of the drinking water project under AMRUT scheme which will bring water from Mullaperiyar dam. Collector Dr Aneesh Sekhar, city engineer,Lakshmanan and deputy commissioner Mujibur Rahman were present. tnn
