Madurai: DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakanth on Friday claimed that her speech regarding women's safety in Tamil Nadu made during an event in Salem, was twisted and misinterpreted by the media.
Premalatha campaigned in Thirunagar on Friday in support of Thiruparankundram DMK candidate Kiruthiga Thangapandian. While addressing the gathering, she condemned the circulation of false reports regarding her speech on women's safety.
Premallatha assured that a Madurai Malli (jasmine) perfume factory will be established in the area. She also asserted that once Kiruthiga wins, she would strive to make AIIMS Madurai a reality, and recalled how the brick carried by deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin became a talking point across Tamil Nadu.
Stating that Thiruparankundram is synonymous with Lord Murugan's abode, Premallatha said that people desire and cherish this secular winning alliance. She observed that while some only talk about lighting deepam in Thiruparankundram, they fail to discuss what they will actually do for the people. The DMDK leader emphasised that while the traditional lighting of the lamp will happen with Lord Murugan's grace, the primary focus must be on improving the welfare and safety of women under chief minister M K Stalin's leadership.
