Madurai: The next government will be a coalition government formed by the DMDK-PWF alliance. It will be one having honesty and integrity, with each alliance partner preventing the other from erring, said MDMK leader Vaiko.
Launching his campaign at Kaalavasal in Madurai on Sunday, and later addressing a public meeting at Obulapadithurai, Vaiko said the alliance would meet the expectations of the people.
"It will be a government of checks and balances, where it will be ensured that none makes mistakes," he said. After forming the government, all government hospitals would be upgraded and even the chief minister would seek treatment from those if the need arose, he said. Seeking votes for three candidates of the alliance - Madurai North DMDK candidate Mujipur Rehman, Madurai Central DMDK candidate D Sivamuthukumar and Madurai South MDMK candidate M Bhoominathan.
He said he was ready to face criminal charges if chief minister Jayalalithaa could prove that money was not taken in containers into the Siruthavoor estate, one of her residences. At first, it was thought the money was to be used to bribe voters. It was later found that it was being taken to Andhra Pradesh to be safeguarded in the event of the AIADMK losing the elections, he added.
Vaiko reiterated that his recent comment on DMK chief Karunanidhi's family had been misunderstood. "It was distorted by some persons on social media," he said.
Earlier, he said both the AIADMK and the DMK were instrumental for the state incurring such a great loss in the granite scam. The two parties have failed to protect the natural resources of the country. "It was I who made the Mullaperiyar issue a national movement, from just being the problem of farmers of the five southern districts," he said.
Vaiko will be contesting against his childhood friend A Subramanian of the DMK in Kovilpatti in the coming election. They had been friends since the early days of school; Subramanian dropped out of school in the fifth standard.
