Madurai corpn floats tender to renovate roads in zone two

Madurai: Madurai corporation has floated tenders to repave and fill potholes on many of the important roads in zone two.Residents of Tallakulam and surrounding areas have been complaining about the poor condition of roads in their area for several weeks, noting an increasing number of potholes as well as incomplete roadworks, which have been creating a bumpy and dusty ride for them. Residents complained about the dust kicked up by untarred roads and the poor conditions creating traffic. This has also been causing traffic chaos.In response, corporation floated three tenders in order to fix the roads in zone two at a total cost of 36 lakh.A tender for 3.66 lakh has been floated to repave Tallakulam middle street with a concrete road. A second tender at 6.13 lakhs was also floated to provide a paver block road at Tallakulam Asari street.An official from the corporation also confirmed that patchwork will be done on important roads and bus routes in zone two, fixing potholes and smoothing the road conditions. A tender worth 26.44 lakh has been floated for this project."The deadline for these tenders has been extended to the first week of March," the official confirmed, adding that work on the roads will be completed by the end of March.
