Jilted lover arrested for harassing woman

Madurai: The Madurai district police arrested a 27-year-old jilted lover for spreading rumours about a woman and stopping her marriage after she rejected his proposal.
The accused was identified as M Prabakaran, 27, from Chinnakattalai near Peraiyur.
Police said that the accused was a relative of the 20-year-old complainant from Usilampatti. She is studying in Virudhunagar district.
He fell in love with her and proposed to her a few months ago. Although she rejected his proposal, he kept insisting her to love him. Meanwhile, the woman’s parents fixed her marriage with another man.
Angered by this, Prabakaran began spreading rumours among the villagers and the groom’s relatives. He also shared photos of him with the woman which he had taken during their family gatherings. When the girl’s family warned him, he threatened to upload morphed pictures of the girl in social media.
Following this, the woman filed a complaint with the Peraiyur police.
