House burgled, valuables worth Rs 3 lakh stolen
Madurai: Unidentified people broke into a house of a city-based software techie and decamped with cash and gold jewellery. Based on the complaint from the techie a case was registered with Thilagar Thidal police station and the burglars are being traced. The total worth of the stolen valuables were estimated at around Rs 3 lakh.
The house owner was identified as R Muthukumar, 36, from Duraisamy Nagar in the city.

Police said Muthukumar, who works for a leading software company, left the city to attend a family function on Saturday. The incident came to light when Muthukumar returned.
Muthukumar, who returned on the next day, found the house door broken. All the household things were scattered. He immediately alerted the city police and they sent a team from the local station.
Police said gold jewellery weighing 14 sovereigns, cash Rs 4, 000 and electronic gadgets like phones, tablets and music players were stolen. A dog squad was swung into action. The police collected finger print evidences from the house and are conducting inquiries.
In another incident, a house that belongs to a retired panchayat officer was burgled and gold jewellry worth Rs 1.30 lakh were stolen. Parthasarathy, 69, the house owner from Iyer Bungalow went to his daughter’s house in Arappalayam on Thursday. Upon his return on Saturday night, he entered the house and realized that the valuables were stolen. The miscreants had gained entry into the house by breaking open the back door. Based on a complaint, a case was registered with Talakulam police limit and an investigation was carried out.
In a similar incident that took place in a private hospital in the city, unidentified thieves stole Rs 4, 200 cash kept in the hospital cash box. The incident took place in the Agarwal Hospital in KK Nagar on Sunday. Based on a complaint, a case was registered with Anna Nagar police station.
