Don’t grant bail to man who beheaded girl: NGO

should not be granted bail and his wife and brother-in-law should also be charged in the case, Evidence, the NGO has said.


Executive director of Evidence, A Kathir and the mother of the murdered girl, Chinnaponnu, 45, addressed reporters in Madurai on Saturday.

said that she was sitting with her daughter Rajalakshmi in their house in Therkku Kadu Malaiadivaram in Salem district on October 22 at around 7.30pm, when their non-dalit neighbour Dineshkumar, 27, came with a

machete

and beheaded her daughter in her presence. He then thrown the head on the road in front of their house.

A few days before the murder, Rajalakshmi had told her parents that Dineshkumar had made some obscene comments to which her parents has asked her not to make an issue out of it. But, as word about Dineshkumar’s conduct started making rounds in the village, he murdered Rajalakshmi, she said. Kathir said that their fact-finding into the incident had found that the man had surrendered on his own. However, he said that his wife Saradha and her brother-in-law, Sasikumar were trying to protect Dineshkumar. Kathir demanded that Dineshkumar should not be granted bail and that Saradha and Sasikumar should also be booked in the case for murder. The accused should be booked under Pocso Act, he said.

The NGO also demanded that a compensation should be given to the victim’s family and that a person from her family should be given a government job. The accused should also be booked under POCSO he has said.
