Custodial death case: CJM court summons Nikitha

Madurai: Chief judicial magistrate court in Madurai hearing the Thiruppuvanam custodial death case, on Tuesday summoned complainant Nikitha, following the closure of the alleged jewel theft case against Madapuram temple security guard, B Ajith Kumar, who was beaten to death by the Sivaganga district police while in custody.Chief judicial magistrate K Selvapandi summoned Nikitha to appear before the court on March 4.Recently, when the bail petitions filed by four accused personnel came up for hearing before the Madras high court, CBI informed the court that the jewel theft case against Ajith Kumar, was closed due to lack of evidence.It may be recalled that Ajith Kumar, who worked at the Batharakaliamman temple at Madapuram, died during custodial interrogation on June 28, 2025. He was picked up by the police for interrogation in a case pertaining to the alleged theft of gold jewels from a car owned by Nikitha of Madurai district, in which she and her mother visited the temple the previous day.
