Madurai: A Madurai corporation councillor passed away after suffering cardiac arrest on Sunday evening. T Kumaravel, 61, CPM councillor of ward 23, was travelling from his residence in Panangadi to the city on his two-wheeler when he suffered chest discomfort near Alangulam. He lost consciousness and fell from his vehicle.
Although bystanders rushed him to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Kumaravel began his political journey in 1981 through DYFI. He became a full-time functionary of CPM, and was elected as councillor of ward 23 (Sellur area) in 2022. Kumaravel was widely recognized for his grassroots involvement and prompt redressal of civic issues.
