Moored boats suffer
damage in Rameswaram: Around 20 mechanised boats moored at the Rameswaram Fishing Jetty, suffered damage after heavy winds rammed them with one another on Friday night. As the fishermen were striking work due to the demonetisation row for the last eight days, the mechanized boats were anchored in the jetty. Some of the boats were moored away from the jetty due to lack of space. "After cyclone Nada made the landfall on Friday morning, 20 trawlers moored away from jetty in the strong winds and rammed with one another," a fisherman said.
Be wary of fraudulent agencies: The women's project department of the Tirunelveli district administration has warned women self-help groups not to be lured by fraudulent agencies promising loans. "Of late, it has been observed that agencies are advertising in media about providing loans to women and women SHGs. In order to dispense loans, they insist the beneficiaries to deposit cash in bank accounts and snap all ties once the money is deposited. Women SHGs are asked to inform the district collector's office if they come across any such agencies," a release said. It also warned against giving passbooks and ATM details to such people.
