Virudhunagar: By defeating the Women's Reservation Bill, DMK and Congress have betrayed women, said Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Chandrababu Naidu participated in a roadshow during a campaign for BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran in the Sattur assembly constituency in Virudhunagar district on Tuesday.
Beginning his speech in Tamil, Naidu said change has begun in Tamil Nadu and no one can stop it. Continuing in Telugu, he said Tamil Nadu has always been the centre of Dravidian civilisation, a land ruled by the illustrious dynasties of the Pallavas, Cheras, Cholas and Pandyas. "Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala are all part of Bharat Mata (India). Despite differences in language, culture, we are Indians. We must compete and grow together, moving towards progress," he said.
He said that PM Modi brought the Women's Reservation Bill to provide 33% reservation to women with an objective to make them MPs and MLAs. However, DMK and Congress defeated the bill and betrayed the women. He also criticised the law and order situation in TN.
"If the people of Tamil Nadu want development, a double-engine NDA govt is needed in the Centre and state," he said and appealed to the people to make the right choice for TN's growth.
