TIRUNELVELI: The
beheaded
body of a 21-year-old man was found on the railway track at Kurukkuthurai in
Tirunelveli district
on Tuesday morning. Police have launched a search for a teenager’s brother and his accomplices for the murder that took place on Monday night. The deceased was identified as A Nambirajan of Marukalkurichi village in Nanguneri taluk. He was in love with a 17-year-old girl of the same village.
According to police, preliminary inquiry revealed that the boy and the girl belonged to the same community, but the girl’s family was against their relationship. Nambirajan had gone to Mumbai and worked there for some time. He returned a few months ago and eloped with the girl and they got married in Tirunelveli two months ago. Police said the couple resided in Tirunelveli town. On Monday, the girl’s brother Chellathurai and his accomplices Muthupandi, Murugan and Chellapandi attended a funeral in Marukalkurichi, where they got drunk. A minor argument broke out between them and one of them teased Chellathurai that his sister had eloped with Nambirajan.
Infuriated by this, the gang headed to the city, where Muthupandi, who is also Nambirajan’s friend, went to the former’s house and invited him for a drink. He took Nambirajan to the railway track, where the gang hacked him to death and threw his body on the track, to make it look like he was run over he was run over by a train. On Tuesday morning, the beheaded body was found and the city police and railway police rushed to the spot for investigation. Police confirmed that he was murdered as there were cut injuries on his body. The body was sent to the for postmortem and after inquiry a search was launched for the four suspects.Tirunelveli Town police registered a case under section 302 (punishment for murder) and was investigating.
