Vertical garden at rly stn to get fresh look
Ludhiana: In an initiative to rejuvenate the vertical garden on different walls of platform 1 of the city station, railway authorities have begun a plantation drive, under which officials are removing dead plants from waste plastic bottles, and placing different new varieties of plants in them.
Earlier, the railway authorities had found that the vertical garden had started losing its freshness, because some plants in the bottles withered away due to irregular maintenance and care.

So, the railways bought hundreds of new plant varieties, and have started the process of planting them in the plastic bottles to maintain the city station’s green look.
Ludhiana station director Tarun Kumar said, “Under this vertical garden project, more than 1,500 different species of plants were placed inside waste plastic bottles a year ago, but some plants got damaged due to unknown reasons. Now, railways have again started the plantation drive to rejuvenate the vertical garden and give it a fresh look. Under this drive, several new plants were placed in the bottles. The railway authorities are committed to maintain the freshness of the vertical garden, and see that plants are not damaged.”
