LUDHIANA: Students highlighted the aspects of the life of women during National Girl Child Day celebrations at Spring Dale Public School on Thursday. Vineet Kaur of Class XI spoke about the need for gender equality. Students of classes XI and XII were inspired by a lecture and powerpoint presentation on Jessica Cox, which showed how a woman with physical disabilities realized her dreams with sheer grit.
Later, woman karatekas showcased their martial art skills.
A life of paradox At Maple Bear Canadian Playway school, experts brought to fore the irony of the situation faced by women. The teachers described the world of a woman as one that was promising but gloomy, hopeful, but in despair.
School principal Veena Aggarwal highlighted the need for a change in attitude towards girls. Children participated in a candle march to rally for the cause of the girl child.
