Retired district attorney kills wife in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: A retired district attorney allegedly murdered his wife at their house in Gurdev Nagar in Ludhiana city on Wednesday afternoon.


The couple lived alone in the house, while their son resides in Patiala. Following the incident, Harcharan Singh (85) made a phone call to his son to inform him about the incident. The deceased was identified as Manjeet Kaur (80).

Upon receiving the call from the son, the police were informed about the incident. Officers from the division number 5 police station arrived at the scene, discovering Manjeet Kaur's lifeless body in a pool of blood.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Harcharan Singh had used a sharp-edged weapon to inflict severe head injuries on his wife, leading to her death. The couple appeared to have a strained relationship.

Harcharan Singh confessed to his son about the gruesome act after allegedly killing his wife. The police have taken the accused into custody and sent the deceased woman's body to the civil hospital for an autopsy.

The murder weapon was also recovered from the crime scene. Statements from those involved are pending before registering a formal case, a police officer said.
