Punjab: Patiala reports 123 Covid-19 positive cases, 4 deaths

PATIALA: 123 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Patiala on Saturday. The district reported four deaths as well. With this the total number of cases has risen to 6,999 while death toll has reached 186.
So far, 95,133 samples have been collected of which 86,234 tested negative and 5,471 patients have been cured while 1,342 are active cases whereas 1,650 reports were awaited.

The authorities have formed a containment zone in female barrack in Central Jail Patiala after 19 females tested positive on Friday.
Patiala deputy commissioner Kumar Amit on Saturday visited the camps organised by the health department at various places in Patiala city to collect samples of Covid and interacted with the residents and appealed to the people to cooperate with the teams of the health department.
He said that the co-operation of the people was essential to win the war against corona so that there should be no hesitation in conducting the test but others should also be encouraged to take the test. He was accompanied by additional deputy commissioner (General) Pooja Sial Grewal, SDM Patiala Charanjit Singh and Civil Surgeon Dr. Harish Malhotra.
The deputy commissioner while interacting with the residents of the area during the camps at Jagtar Nagar and Sanauri Gate appealed to them to cooperate and said that there was no need to panic in getting conduct the test of COVID but by taking the test one can protect oneself and one's family. He said that the rumours or misinformation coming to them through social media or any other means should first be verified. He said that delay in tests could lead to loss of life for critically ill patients and it not only increases the risk of losing precious lives but a positive patient who did not get his test done on time could infect many others.
He said that even if a person tests positive does not have any symptoms of Covid and he has the facility to be quarantined in his home, so there is no need to worry.
Kumar Amit appealed to the people to get their tests done instead of believing any rumours and contribute to the success of Mission Fateh launched by the Punjab Government to make state Covid free.
