on Thursday held a protest while two protesters climbed to a light pole near YPS Chowk in the city to press the government for their demands.
The protesters earlier had a sit in near
PSPCL
office since morning while later they decided to take out a march towards the chief minister’
s house
in the evening. However, the police stopped the protesters near YPS Chowk, but two protesters managed climb a light pole along with a toddler. They tried to break the police barricading following which police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse them off.
The administration later managed to get down the child from the street light. However, the protester did not scale down despite assurance of a meeting with the higher officials.
Patiala deputy commissioner
Kumar Amit said efforts were on to diffuse the situation. He added that the child was brought down from the light pole.
