LUDHIANA: Police have arrested a person who had allegedly used fake visiting cards of chief secretary Subodh Chander Aggarwal and principal secretary local bodies DS Guru department for taking loans. The accused has also been charged with having used fake stamps of officers of various departments for creating fake documents and using these for taking loans.
The alleged fraudster Sushil Kumar Goel is said to be bearing numerous other names, including Rakesh Kumar, Deepak Kumar and Deepu.
On Saturday, he was arrested by Shimlapuri police station on charges of making fake stamps. Goel is currently a resident of Janakpuri. He hails from Jagadhri city in Haryana. Goel has allegedly made fake stamps of various government offices, cards of senior government officials and government documents. He has made 30 visiting cards of principal secretary local bodies D S Guru. He has allegedly been using these for making money by befooling innocent people. Goel had also printed fake cards of the state chief secretary Subodh Chander.
At a press conference, deputy commissioner of police Yurinder Singh Hayer said they had seized some 'identity cards' on which fake signatures of traffic manager of the city had been found. He added that police had seized fake registration certificates of vehicles and food and civil supply documents having fake signatures of the department's senior officials.
Hayer said Goel had taken bank loans against fake documents. He had used these loans to purchase vehicles, which he had later sold off at low prices. He said they had also recovered around 66 fake stamps, which Goel had used for making fake documents. He said the accused used to smooth-talk with people and thus used to con them into believing him.
He said their investigation was on and they hoped to get more information from the accused. He added that many cases had already been registered in Karnal, Panchkula, Chandigarh and division number 5 police station of the city against Sushil Goel and he had recently been released from Chandigarh jail.
