Times News Network
Ludhiana: Samrala police, on Tuesday, booked a woman settled in Canada for abetment to suicide after her husband allegedly hanged himself by the ceiling fan of the house at Gosla village of Khanna. It is alleged that the couple had strained relations as the husband suspected his wife of having an affair and would stop her from talking to her alleged love interest, Vikas.
An FIR has been lodged against Simranjit Kaur of Chomo village in Payal, who lives in Dawson Creek, Canada. The case was registered after an inquiry. The complainant, Sohan Singh said that his son Gagandeep Singh got married to Simranjit Kaur on September 5, 2021.
Simranjit had cleared the IELTS exam and he had borne the expenses of sending her abroad. The complainant said she was supposed to call Gagandeep there. After going to Canada, Simranjit initially had a good relationship with Gagandeep but things changed gradually. Simranjit met a man named Vikas and Gagandeep was against it. He tried to dissuade her from speaking to him and this strained their relationship.
On August 2, 2022 Gagandeep and Simranjit fought over the issue, after which Simranjit sent him a suicide note on WhatsApp saying that she was committing suicide. On seeing the suicide note, Gagandeep hanged himself by the ceiling fan of the house while Simrajit did not attempt suicide.
