Ludhiana mayor conducts surprise check at municipal corporation’s Zone C office.
Ludhiana: In a move to ensure the timely delivery of civic services, mayor Inderjit Kaur carried out a surprise inspection at the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation's (MC) Zone C office on Gill Road this Friday. The visit aimed to monitor the ground-level functioning of the MC Suvidha Kendra and address grievances regarding administrative delays.During her time at the center, the Mayor interacted directly with visitors to gather firsthand feedback on the efficiency of the facility. She issued immediate instructions to the staff to streamline operations and expedite pending applications. The inspection took a serious turn when a resident reported that his file had gone missing within the department. Upon questioning the concerned staff member, the Mayor found the official's explanation unsatisfactory. Consequently, she ordered the staff to trace the file immediately and prioritise the resolution of the citizen's grievance.
'Zero tolerance for harassment'The mayor sent a clear message to the municipal workforce, directing officials and staff to ensure that members of the public are not forced to move from pillar to post for routine tasks. She emphasised that if an application meets all requirements and faces no technical hurdles, the work must be completed without delay.Highlighting ongoing reforms, the mayor stated that several initiatives, including the implementation of the ‘e-office' system, are being integrated to modernise and streamline the working of civic body offices. These steps are intended to reduce manual errors and increase transparency in governance. The mayor concluded the inspection with a stern warning, noting that any instance of public harassment or negligence at civic offices would lead to strict departmental action against the defaulting employees. The administration remains committed to transforming the MC offices into more resident-friendly environments.
