LUDHIANA: The district courts complex is all set to go greener. In a significant move, scores of advocates have decided to plant over 100 trees and around 330 plants, without having to wait for the municipal corporation (MC) or the district administration to do their bit.
While plantation of trees will not only beautify the complex, but also set an example for other offices and departments to follow.
Lawyers said the authorities never paid heed towards enhancing the green cover despite the fact that a large number of people visited the complex daily.
Talking of City Beautiful, Gagan Arora, a lawyer, said, Chandigarh attracts many visitors because of the green cover. It has given a beautiful look to the city. We want Ludhiana to come up on the same lines and set an example for others to follow. Earlier, too, Arora played a commendable role in converting a part of the court, once full of debris, into a beautiful green area.
Elaborating on the project and the plan, he informed, Around 100 trees will be planted in the complex and these include Neem and Cedrela Toona trees.
Informing that around 330 plants would be planted in the complex, Arora said, the plants would include 58 Bottle Palms, 136 big Ficus Benjamin and 136 small Ficus Benjamin.
He further informed that the project had already been approved by the District Bar Association.
