Ludhiana: In a relief to the industry, the much-awaited meeting of chief minister Bhagwant
Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind
Kejriwal with industrialists has been finalised. The meeting is scheduled to be held at a five-star hotel here on September 15 and only 200 industrialists will participate in the meet.
Notably, in this meeting, announcements regarding several major reliefs including confirmation for factories to continue working in mix land use area are expected to be made.
Meanwhile, the industries department has started confirming availability of heads of business associations over telephone while official invites will follow soon once the outline of the programme is finalised.
Confirming the development, a senior official in the industries department, said, “The industry-CM meet has been fixed for September 15 at Radisson hotel, Ludhiana. In this meeting industrialists are being invited to interact with the CM and other dignitaries, who will make special announcements in regard to the Ludhiana and state industry.”
The city industrialists are elated as they have been waiting for this meeting for quite a while now as there are at least a dozen pending issues which they are expecting the government to resolve at the earliest.
Meanwhile, some businessmen have already met the CM and conveyed their issues to him so that the government can announce reliefs in accordance.
Upkar Singh Ahuja, president of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), said, “During my with the CM, he said that on September 15, the government will make historic announcements for the industry. I conveyed to him major issues faced by the industry including those related to high rates of power and permission for operation of factories in MLU areas.
