MODEL GRAM: The children of Kiddies Paradise School celebrated the existence of forests and brought these issues to fore by participating in a jungle party on the theme ‘Save Jungle Save Earth’ on Thursday. They learnt how rapid urbanisation is jeopardising the future of forests and wildlife all over the world. This disappearance of green cover has left the creatures dwelling in these areas in dire straits.
The tiny tots came dressed like colourful animals and tribal of the jungle. The campus was decorated with bushes and colours according to the theme. Of the many slogans sported by the students, one was, ‘‘Don’t cut me down. I give you food to eat, air to breathe.’’ The kids created a jungle atmosphere and enacted like sparrows, parakeets, frogs and macaques, dressed in respective dresses.
Class III student Omika and Class I student Vishabh dressed up like a tribal boy and girl while Harjot Singh of Class II and Mannan from nursery enacted a wild animal and a tree respectively.
Principal Taranjit Kaur said the cutting down of tress and exploitation of wildlife brings about an imbalance in the natural world. ‘‘We want to instil in these young children the importance of a greener world,’’ she added.
The jungle party was followed by a sapling plantation drive by the little ones.
