Jewellery store heist: Men rented house nearby

Four burglars, who struck at a jewelry store on Noorwala Road on January 5, got a rented accommodation mere 200 meters away from the crime scene a day before the police suspected that the accused first conducted reconnaissance of the store and then got the rented accommodation. The four miscreants told the landlady that they would furnish their identity proof the next day, but they executed the burglary and escaped early on January 5. The police found liquor bottles from the room and said that after the burglary the accused had drinks to celebrate. They used iron rods to drill a hole into the wall of the shop, broke open the safe containing the jewellery using a gas cutter, and recovered the gas cutter and iron rods from the spot.

Ludhiana: The four burglars, who struck at jewellery store on Noorwala Road early on January 5, got a rented accommodation merely 200 meters away from the crime scene a day before. Police suspect that the accused first conducted reconnaisance of the store and then got the rented accommodation. They told the landlady that they would give identity proof and advance the next day but they executed the burglary and escaped.
Early on January 5, the four miscreants drilled a hole into the wall of the jewelry shop on Noorwala road and escaped with gold and silver jewellery.

Shop owner Gautam Ghosh said that he incurred a loss of Rs 60 lakh. ACP, North Maninder Bedi said, “The four accused barged into the jewellery shop and executed a burglary. On January 4, they went around looking for a one room accommodation. They found a house a few meters away from the jewellery shop. The landlady asked for their identity proof and the accused said that they would furnish it the next day. However, in the wee hours they executed the crime.”
ACP Bedi said, “The probe revealed that the accused, after the burglary, reached the rented accommodation, from where police found some pieces of silver jewellery. Further probe is on to trace the accused.”
Police also found some liquor bottles from the room and said that after the burglary, the accused had drinks to celebrate. The accused used iron rods to drill a hole into the wall of the shop. They broke open the safe containing the jewellery using a gas cutter. Police recovered the gas cutter and iron rods from the spot.
