LUDHIANA: The hunger strike by the members of Safai Karamchari Sangharsh Committee continued on Friday too. Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Ashok Prashar, Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina and Kulwant Sidhu reached out to them and assured that their demands will be sent to chief minister
Bhagwant Mann for redressal.
The contractual sanitation employees have been protesting for over a month and this week they started hunger strike outside zone A office of municipal corporation (MC) near Mata Rani Chowk for the regularisation of jobs.
The AAP MLAs assured the contractual employees that if employees got regularised in Jalandhar and Amritsar then they will get this status here too.
However, the employees reiterated that they will continue their hunger strike till the time they get the regularisation letters.
On Thursday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders came to the protest spot in support. The contractual employees were also claiming that despite sitting on protest for over a month, the ruling party MLAs did not turn up.
