Ex-serviceman dies, 2 women booked for culpable homicide

Ludhiana: Two women of Machhiwara area have been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder after an ex-serviceman died after drinking liquor lazed with intoxicants, allegedly served by one of the accused. The accused have been identified as Seema and Urmilla of Rahon road in Machhiwara area.The complainant, son of deceased Garib Das of Baliewal village, said his father had retired from the Army in 2016, after which he also worked as a security guard in the Central Jail, Ludhiana. He added that for around 3 to 4 years, his father was at home and would go to the colony where Seema stayed to meet her.When he came to know about it, he warned his father not to go there again, but she did not stop calling his father, he said, adding that on June 1, his father went to Machhiwara without informing the family members, where the woman made the him drink liquor lazed with intoxicants for sex.The complainant alleged that his father died in Seema’s house after which she, along with her neighbour Urmila Devi, dumped the body outside in an empty plot.
