CMS money heist: Accused remanded to judicial custody
Ludhiana: The accused involved in the biggest money heist of Rs 8.49 crores at CMS office in Ludhiana were produced in court on Monday and remanded in judicial custody. The accused who had stolen some of the robbed money have also been sent to judicial custody by a local court. Police are now focusing on the cash management company, CMS, to verify the actual amount robbed.A gang of at least 11 robbers struck at the office of CMS in Aman Park area on June 10. They held employees and security guards hostage and escaped with Rs 8.49 crore, besides a cash van. Police arrested 11 persons including Manjinder Singh Mani, an employee of CMS, Mandeep Singh Vicky, Harwinder Singh Lambu, Paramjit Singh Pamma, Harpreet Singh, Narinder Singh Happy, Mandeep Kaur alias Mona, her husband Jaswinder Singh, Arun Kumar coach, Aditya alias Nanni, Gurpreet Singh Gopa and Gulshan alias Gaurav. Gopa and Gulshan helped the robbers in transportation.The thieves who were arrested for stealing some of the money robbed are Neeraj, Mandeep Kumar Babbu, Prince, Abhi Singla, Pawan Kumar and Damanpreet. With 18 arrests so far, police have recovered Rs 7.14 crore, besides DVRs, WiFi modems, a scooter, a bike and a car used in the crime.Sub-inspector Amarinder Singh, SHO, Sarabha Nagar police station said that the police have produced all the accused in court, which has remanded them in judicial custody.Police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu said, “Rs 7.14 crore has been recovered while CMS alleged that Rs 8.49 crore was robbed. The accused have used approximately Rs 1.25 lakh from the robbed amount. An SIT is questioning CMS officials as it is suspected that the robbed amount is less than Rs 8.49 crore.” tnn
