LUDHIANA: Two people ' a woman and a 12-year-old boy ' were found murdered in different areas of the city on Tuesday. While the woman was shot dead by her nephew over a land dispute, the minor boy was strangled to death by his friend for Rs 100.
Cops said Jaswinder Kaur alias Rani, 35, a resident of Haibowal, was having a dispute with her brother over 18 acres of ancestral property.
Police said on Tuesday the deceased and her brother's family had met with the panchayat at Kakah village in Mehraban area. While discussing about the disputed land, Rani's sister-in-law Rupinder Kaur had a scuffle with her. Then Rupinder and her sons

Simran Singh beat up Rani. Finally Amritpal fired two shots from his .32 bore pistol at Rani, killing her on the spot.
SHO of Mehraban police station Sumit Sood said a case has been registered against four accused. ''All are absconding. The deceased's body was sent for postmortem to civil hospital,'' he added. The SHO said Rani was single and staying with her father.
In the second incident, a migrant kid, Pardesi, was killed by his friend in Dehlon area on Monday. SHO of local police station Satinder Pal said Pardesi was returning home after delivering lunch to his father who was working in a rice sheller.
SHO of local police station Satinder Pal said: ''Victim Pardesi's friend Bittu had accompanied him. Pardesi had Rs 100 and Bittu knew it. So on the way back, Bittu asked Pardesi to give him the money but the boy refused which led to an argument. Furious, Bittu strangled Pardesi to death.'
The SHO added that on Tuesday they found Pardesi's body near the slum area where he lived. ''Preliminary investigation revealed that Bittu belongs to Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh and was well known to the victim's family. He has been absconding since the incident. We have registered a case of murder against him,'' Satinder said.
