Punjab elections: BJP candidate accused of bid to buy votes

BJP’s Garhshankar assembly seat candidate, Nimisha Mehta, was on Sunday booked for allegedly offering to distribute liquor or money in a phone conversation with a person. The FIR registered by the police has said that they had gotten the recording of the phone conversation from an informer on the basis of which the case was registered.

JALANDHAR: BJP’s Garhshankar assembly seat candidate, Nimisha Mehta, was on Sunday booked for allegedly offering to distribute liquor or money in a phone conversation with a person. The FIR registered by the police has said that they had gotten the recording of the phone conversation from an informer on the basis of which the case was registered.
According to the FIR, Mehta allegedly spoke to a person calling him ‘mama ji’ and urging him to inform her if money was required for distribution in cash or for liquor, and the person on the other end had refused to indulge in such activity.
