2 snatchers held, 25 cell phones seized

Ludhiana: The anti narcotic cell-1 of Ludhiana police commissionerate arrested two miscreants for snatching and seized 25 mobile phones from their possession.The accused were identified as Arvinder Singh of New Azad Nagar and Kamaljit Singh of Preet Nagar. As per the police, while Arvinder Singh and Kamaljit Singh were involved in snatching mobile phones and other valuables from commuters, Ajay Kumar used to buy the stolen items from them.Investigating officer ASI Gurdeep Singh said that they arrested Arvinder Singh and Kamaljit Singh following a tip-off. The cops apprehended the duo when they were riding a motorcycle sans number plate near Baghi stand.The didn’t have any documents to prove that the bike was theirs and later, confessed that it was stolen. The cops also seized 25 stolen mobile phones from their possession.The police said that the accused would sell the snatched mobile to a man who also has been arrested by the police.The ASI added that the accused confessed that they used to target labourers returning home from work and rob them of cash and mobile phones, which they used to sell to one Ajay Kumar of Basant Nagar. The police then arrested Ajay Kumar who confessed that he would buy mobile phones from the snatchers for Rs 1,000 to 1,500 and further sell them for Rs 2,500 to 4,000.A case has been registered against the trio. tnn
