Lucknow: The state govt will honour 14 Olympians and Paralympic athletes at the ‘Jinhone Badhaya Desh ka Maan, Aisi Pratibhaon ka Samman' programme in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Among those who will be honoured are seven Olympic and Paralympic medalists and seven athletes who participated in the two events. The state govt will be distributing a total of Rs 22.70 crore as prize money to these athletes. CM
Yogi Adityanath will preside over the ceremony. Among the medalists to be honoured are Praveen Kumar, Suhas LY, Ajit Singh, Preeti Pal, Simran, Lalit Upadhyay and Raj Kumar Pal.
A govt spokesperson said that Praveen Kumar, who won a gold medal in the T64 event at the Paris Paralympic Games, will be awarded Rs 6 crore. Suhas LY and Ajit Singh, who won silver medals at the Paralympic Games, will receive Rs 4 crore each. Preeti Pal will receive Rs 4 crore for winning two bronze medals, while Simran will receive Rs 1 crore for winning a bronze medal.
Lalit Upadhyay and Raj Kumar Pal, who were part of the Indian hockey team that won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games, will each receive Rs 1 crore as prize money. Parul Chaudhary, Anu Rani, Priyanka Goswami, Prachi Chaudhary, Sakshi Kasana, Dipesh Kumar and Yash Kumar will be awarded Rs 10 lakh each for making UP proud by participating in the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. tnn
