LUCKNOW: A bill to repeal ‘obsolete and outdated acts’ was passed with voice vote in

UP assembly

on Thursday. What made the passage of the bill unusual was the fact that the assembly was declared adjourned sine die and the house was to rise for the national anthem when parliamentary affairs minister introduced the bill.

’s repeated appeals, the opposition was pacified and the national anthem was played before the house dispersed.

Amid all this, parliamentary affairs minister

Suresh Khanna

tabled the bill to repeal the ‘obsolete and outdated acts’, shocking the house once again as till then the adjournment of house was announced. However, the bill was passed just when the national anthem was to be recited. An agitated opposition did not participate in the national anthem and sung it parallelly in the gallery.
