‘UP’s support crucial for India-Nepal ties’: President of Nepali Janata Dal
Lucknow: The national president of the Nepali Janata Dal, Hari Charan Shah, who is on a tour of India, visited Lucknow on Thursday. He praised UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and said that UP govt’s cooperation with the Nepal govt had been extremely important for maintaining a harmonious atmosphere along the Nepal border and for facilitating smooth movement there.Shah, who arrived in Lucknow on Thursday, said that UP’s support is crucial for good India-Nepal relations. “For decades, the border districts of Nepal and UP have shared bonds of matrimonial and social ties. People of Nepali origin are employed across several districts of UP, from Gorakhpur upwards. The govt of UP has carried out significant development in districts bordering Nepal, which has benefitted both countries. This has also led to a growth in tourism,” he said.

Shah pointed out that a large stretch of Nepal’s border is connected with UP and the approach of UP govt to the neighbouring country had been highly positive. UP and Nepal are also connected by a religious thread, he pointed out, adding that Sita’s maternal home is in Nepal’s Janakpur while her marital home is in UP’s Ayodhya. He expressed hope that the relationship between UP and Nepal would remain cordial in the future as well.
