UPEIDA to start industrial land allotment in 8 UP districts along expressways
Lucknow: The allotment of land for industrial purposes is set to begin within the next six months in eight Uttar Pradesh districts located along key expressways, as the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) moves ahead with plans to establish 23 integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters (IMLCs).
Officials said eight of these clusters are in advanced stages, with land allotment in the eight locations scheduled within the next three to four months.
UPEIDA is developing 3,415 hectares (8,439 acres) in phases near five operational expressways to promote industrial growth and attract private investment. “We have already started the process to allocate land in Firozabad, Hardoi and Meerut IMLCs. In addition to the three districts, civil works are in advanced stages in Sambhal, Buduan, Shahjahanpur, Hamirpur and Etawah,” a senior authority officer said.
Plots will be offered on lease, with an upfront payment ranging from Rs 3,800 to Rs 11,470 per square metre, apart from annual lease rent.
Officials said land banking has been planned alongside expressway development, particularly on the Ganga Expressway project, which was developed under a public-private partnership model. As part of this approach, UPEIDA coordinated land acquisition in Meerut, Sambhal, Buduan, Unnao, Hardoi and Shahjahanpur to strengthen the investment proposition, generate industrial activity and increase traffic on the corridor, supporting recovery of funds invested in land acquisition.
Separately, UPEIDA has accelerated the process of identifying construction agencies for new link expressways aimed at improving regional connectivity. These include a 51-km link between the Lucknow-Agra Expressway and the Purvanchal Expressway and a 91-km link connecting the Ganga Expressway with the Bundelkhand Expressway, along with connectivity improvements from the Lucknow-Agra corridor towards Farrukhabad and nearby districts. Bidders for the two projects will be evaluated from June 23, after which selected agencies are expected to be awarded construction work.
