UP CM Yogi Adityanath: Congress tampered with Constitution and disrespected Dr BR Ambedkar
LUCKNOW: Defending BJP against the Opposition's charge that it was seeking a mandate of 400 plus seats so that it could change the constitution, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had honoured Dr BR Ambedkar, established his Panch Teerth and backed Bharat Ratna award for him.
Addressing a rally in Deoria, the CM said that the PM had affirmed that reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes would not be abolished under BJP leadership. Instead, he said, Congress was anti-national and had tampered with the Constitution. It also showed disrespect to Ambedkar by defeating him in an election, the CM claimed.
"Not only this, Congress went against the honour of Ambedkar and imposed Article 370 in Kashmir. After this, Emergency was imposed in the country in 1975 to strangle the Constitution of India," the CM said.
Accusing the previous govts of having ignored Deoria's development, the CM said the district was finally witnessing progress. A medical college in the name of Devraha Baba was under construction while an agriculture university was being established nearby. Encephalitis has also been eradicated completely.
Yogi accuses Cong of Talibanisation of India
Hitting out at the Congress and Samajwadi Party alliance, the CM said that the two parties come with a “new brand” each time, referring to their 2017 alliance, but that the “product remains the same”. In Bansgaon, the CM attacked Congress for being Ramdrohis, saying that their members had said that the Ram Temple built in Ayodhya was “useless”. He said, “Ram mandir nahi, balki inki buddhi bekar hai. (It is not the temple but their minds which are useless).
Thousands flock to Ayodhya daily, a testament to monumental progress.” In all five rallies which the CM addressed on Friday, he accused the Congress of Talibanisation of India, saying that by implementing personal laws it was giving the minority community the freedom to slaughter cows.
“The INDI Alliance advocates for the implementation of personal laws, signalling their desire to enforce a Taliban-like rule and Sharia law, where daughters will be deprived of education, women will be restricted from public spaces, mandatory burqa usage will be enforced and triple talaq will be brought back. Such regressive ideologies are unacceptable to us,” he said.
The CM further added that on June 4, the Modi govt would give people over 70 years an annual healthcare allowance of Rs 5 lakh and grant permanent residences to those living in kutcha houses. In Kushinagar, where he accompanied BJP national president JP Nadda, the CM spoke about the Covid-19 pandemic, saying that when the country was in trouble, “of the two boys, Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi, one had fled to England and the other escaped to Italy”.
Speaking about members of the Musahar community, the CM said that under previous govts they had been ignored and left to starve to death but BJP protested for their rights and now, under the leadership of PM Modi, each Musahar family had been provided with a house, land lease and a ration card. Praising Nadda for his term as the union health minister, Yogi Adityanath said that he had played a crucial role in the battle against encephalitis by offering unlimited funding.
A medical college in Kushinagar was nearing completion while an airport had also been constructed in the area. Work was currently underway for the establishment of an agriculture university named after Mahatma Buddha. “Previously, when one arrived here, it was uncertain whether there was a proper road or just potholes. In the past, cars moved at the speed of a cart, but today, vehicles move like bullet trains,” he said.
