LUCKNOW: Taking a dig at Mulayam government, BJP vice-president and state incharge Kalyan Singh predicted that by-poll results would become barometer for political change in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a BJP rally in Siddhaur in Bara Banki, Kalyan said that by-poll results would indicate a wind of change in the offing in the state. "If ruling Samajwadi Party loses a few seats, it would mean rejection of its policies.
This would eventually pave wave for the political change in the state," he pointed exhorting people to vote for the BJP for better governance.
Listing failures of the Mulayam government, Kalyan alleged that law and order was deteriorating each passing day while more than half of the state was under the grip of power outages and shortage of drinking water. "In such a situation, voting for the ruling coalition would mean increasing your own woes," he said.
Kalyan also cautioned people of Mulayam government''s attempt to capture booths for winning by-pols. "By-polls are crucial for the survival of the Mulayam government. It may go to any extent to win polls. BJP would give a befitting reply if such attempts were made during polling on October 13," he warned.
Since the Siddhaur seat is held by BSP, he did not spare Mayawati and BSP either. "She is not daughter of a dalit but daughter of money (daulat)," he charged admitting that it was BJP''s mistake to make her chief minister for the third time.
"Mayawati government was a government of scams and middlemen. Taj Corridor scam is an open case how she and her men looted the state exchequer," he alleged.
On Congress, Kalyan claimed that the party has lost its relevance in Uttar Pradesh and was nowhere in the contest in the by-polls. He advised AICC president Sonia Gnadhi and Prime Minister to take lessons from Uma Bharti and force all the tainted ministers to resign from the Union cabinet.
