LUCKNOW: Attacking the ruling
BJP over its claims of setting up missile and bomb manufacturing units in the state,
Samajwadi Party chief
Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said the fact is that the government could not set up a matchbox unit, what to talk of ordinance factories and defence corridor.
Addressing meetings in Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj and
Gorakhpur, the former CM took on the BJP's 'double-engine government' claim adding that only corruption and price rise have doubled under BJP regime in UP and at the centre.
"Under the double-engine government, the price of an LPG cylinder has more than doubled from Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 and so have the prices of petrol and diesel," he said.
On corruption front, a businessman from Gujarat duped 28 banks of Rs 23,000 crore and escaped. "Earlier too businessmen have escaped after duping banks and it is more than coincidence that most belong to one state," he said.
He lambasted the government for the pomp and show in 'Investors Summit' and establishing a defence corridor in the state. "At the summit, they said investment worth several lakhs of crores will come as companies will set up industries. What happened to the investment," he asked.
"They then promised that missiles and bombs will be manufactured in units that will come up in the defence corridor. The fact is that they did not set up even a matchbox producing unit, what to talk of missile and bombs," he said.
Akhilesh said BJP has sold airports, airlines, shipyards and plans to sell off railways also. He said this was part of the party's design to do away with reservation in jobs.
On chief minister
Yogi Adityanath's 'dangesh' (rioter) jibe, SP chief said 'baba' should look at the mirror and see who is the real 'dangesh'.
"It is laughable that those who have withdrawn criminal cases pending against themselves are calling others names," he said.
