Two brothers among 4 killed in Gonda highway crash
Lucknow: The devastating highway accident in Gonda that claimed five lives has left behind shattered families, with the deaths of two real brothers exposing the loss suffered by those involved.
Hasan Mohammad (40) and Imtiyaz Ali (27), among the victims of Wednesday night’s crash, were brothers whose family had already endured repeated tragedies. Relatives said the two were among six siblings, of whom two others had died earlier. With their deaths in the same accident, only two brothers now remain.
The loss has left their families devastated and financially vulnerable. Hasan is survived by five children — Fatima (21), Parvez (20), Atma (19), Tabrez (18) and Nazia (18) — all dependent on him as the primary breadwinner. Imtiyaz leaves behind a young family, including a five-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter.
Family members said both men worked as tailors and struggled daily to support their households and educate their children. “They worked long hours just to keep their families stable. Now everything feels uncertain,” a relative said.
The accident also claimed the life of Gulshan (25), the youngest of four brothers, who worked as a photographer and was the sole earning member of his family.
Another victim, Sanjay Tiwari (33), is survived by his wife and two sons, aged eight and six. Relatives said the children are too young to fully understand the loss.
What has amplified the grief is the circumstance in which the victims died. According to relatives, most of them were not part of the initial accident but had rushed to help an injured motorcyclist when a speeding SUV mowed them down.
“There had already been an accident, and people went there to help. While trying to save a life, they became victims themselves,” said Mamta, a relative of one of the deceased.
