LUCKNOW: The police on Thursday night arrested five persons and recovered stolen TV sets, mobile phones, lap-top and other electronic appliances worth Rs 1 crore from their possession.
The accused confessed to their involvement in the crime and revealed that the stolen goods were smuggled to Delhi for disposal when the police arrested them.
The breakthrough came following a specific tip-off to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Lucknow, Ashutosh Pandey that the goods stolen from a godown were dumped in Delhi and likely to be disposed off in the open market within the next few days.

Immediately, the SP, rural, SC Bajpayee, who is also looking after the charge of SP Trans-Gomti, rushed to Delhi and confirmed that the information was true.
Some aspects related to the robbers - some of whom belonged to Lucknow - were then passed on to circle officer (CO) Aliganj, Sachi Ghildyal, who personally verified the details and the entire operation was kept a closely-guarded secret to ensure that robbers did not get the wind of the police action.
After everything was finalised, a police team was called in to make the final arrests.Those arrested were identified as Guddu Sartaj, Sohrab Modi, Mohammad Salim, Mazhar Hussain and Brahmachari Yadav.
Arms and ammunition has also been recovered from their possession. However, the leader of the gang, Billoo alias Vakil Ahmed was still absconding.
