Lucknow: A 50-year-old woman fell victim to theft near Charbagh on Monday evening when two strangers, who shared an auto ride with her, tricked her into giving them an opportunity to steal her gold jewellery by pretending to be hungry.
The incident came to light after the victim, Zeenat Khan of Kashidhera, Rakabganj, filed a complaint at Naka Hindola police station on Tuesday.
According to the FIR, Zeenat was returning home from Hussainganj when she boarded a shared rickshaw in which two men were already seated. Claiming they were hungry, they persuaded her to take them to Charbagh to buy food. Trusting their story, she took them to a biryani shop near Doodhmandi turn. The men allegedly distracted the woman in conversation, using the opportunity to snatch a 20-gram gold chain from her neck and three gold rings weighing around 25 grams from her fingers. They then pretended to go for a drink of water and made a swift getaway.
