Hyderabad: A six-year-old girl, who accompanied her mother to a toddy compound in Shamshabad on July 1, was kidnapped by an unknown woman, who befriended her at the toddy shop. Based on her mother's complaint, the RGI Airport police have registered a kidnapping case on July 7 and launched a search for the girl.
K Laxmamma, 30, a labourer from Mirjil in Mahabubnagar district, along with her two daughters, went to a toddy compound in Shamshabad on July 1 morning. While Laxmamma was consuming toddy and holding her three-year-old younger daughter, her six-year-old elder daughter was befriended by an unknown woman, who was also consuming toddy at the same place.
CCTV footage at the compound shows the woman making the six-year-old sip toddy before walking out of the compound with the girl. A little while after the incident, the girl’s mother noticed her absence at the toddy compound and searched in nearby areas. After failing to locate her, she lodged a complaint with the RGI Airport police on July 7 (Monday) and a kidnapping case was registered.
Police immediately obtained the CCTV footage from the toddy compound and surrounding areas. “The kidnapper took the girl with her, offering to buy her eatables from a nearby shop. Instead, she boarded an auto with the girl and reached Shamshabad bus stand,” RGI Airport inspector Balaraju said. At Shamshabad bus stand, she boarded a bus to Chevella with the girl. Police were now checking the CCTV footage at Chevella to identify the accused and rescue the girl.
