Residents protest LDA notice to demolish park and gazebo
Lucknow: Residents of Parsvnath Planet in Vibhuti Khand, protested after the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) issued a notice directing the demolition of a children's park and gazebo constructed on the premises, terming the structures a violation of building by-laws.LDA officials said the additional construction of about 4,000 sqft in the open space is not part of the approved layout, and the society was asked to remove it within a week. However, residents opposed the move, saying the park and gazebo were developed by the resident welfare association (RWA) to improve community facilities and provide a safe recreational space for children and senior citizens.
The newly created park, equipped with modern swings and a play area, drew families every evening, while the gazebo became a gathering place for elderly residents during walks.Retired IFS officer, Manoj K Shukla said the open space was transformed into a lively area for children, turning evenings into a time of play and social interaction. Merchant navy officer, Prashant Singh said the gazebo became the heart of the society, giving elders a comfortable place to sit and interact.Businessman Rajiv Gupta said the new play equipment enhanced the quality of life for families, while director in BRO, Bipin Chand said cleanliness and basic amenities in the society also improved alongside the new facilities. Entrepreneur Manish Gurnani said converting a vacant plot into a community space reflected collective effort and strengthened the sense of community among residents.Treasurer of the RWA, Ashish Mittal said they would continue to pursue the matter with authorities and seek a solution that allows the facilities to remain while addressing regulatory concerns. When asked, zonal officer of the LDA for the area, Devansh Trivedi said that constructing any structure on the premises without prior approval is a clear violation and cannot be allowed.
