LUCKNOW: The Mohanlalganj police on Thursday unearthed an illegal arms factory and arrested two persons from Trilokpur jungle on Lucknow-Unnao border.
The police recovered seven country-made pistols of .315 and .12-bore, a country-made gun, several cartridges and equipment used for manufacturing illegal arms.
The arrested persons were identified as Omkar Lohar and
Pappu Singh, both natives of Unnao.
Lohar had earlier been booked in over a dozen cases of Arms Act and for running illegal arms factory in Unnao. He is a listed history sheeter. Lohar's father too has been into manufacturing of illegal arms.
The accused supplied illegal arms in Lucknow, Unnao and Kanpur through their aides, Sunil Singh, a resident of Sarai Joga and Ramkumar, a native Unnao. The arms were sold between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000.
The accused told the police that illegal cartridges recovered from them were arranged by Sunil and Ramkumar. A police team has been sent to nab the two suppliers and others involved in the illegal trade.
The accused told the police that though they have been in this trade since 1995, they became actively involved about five years back.
