PM Modi’s tweet triggers war of words between Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityanath
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav engaged in a twitter war on Wednesday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged several prominent personalities, including Opposition leaders, to encourage people to vote in large numbers in the Lok Sabha elections.
The PM tweeted: “I appeal to @RahulGandhi, @MamataOfficial, @PawarSpeaks, @Mayawati, @yadavakhilesh, @yadavtejashwi and @mkstalin to encourage increased voter participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. A high turnout augurs well for our democratic fabric.”

Akhilesh’s tweet triggered a war of words between him and Yogi Adityanath, with the latter tweeting his government’s achievements. “If SP chief Akhilesh Yadav steps out of his house then only he shall know the reality of villages. If I would tell the truth then he would not be able to show his face,” Yogi tweeted.
In another tweet Yogi said: “People of UP will cock a snook at ‘bua and babua’ alliance. Time for casteism, nepotism and corruption is over now and politically vigilant people of UP will make sure that 5 multiplied by zero results into a zero”. Yogi’s apparent reference was to the number of seats SP (five) and BSP (zero) had won in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Akhilesh hit back by tweeting: “Mukhyamantriji hum samajh nahi sake! Aap Hindi mein ‘cock-a-snook’ ka matlab bata dijiye...ya behtar hoga ki aap iski kar ke dikha dijiye taaki janata bhi samajjh jaye unhein karna kya hai (I did not understand. You tell us the meaning of ‘cock-a-snook in Hindi. It will be better if you do it for us so that people can know what they are supposed to do).
