Play draws contrast between Dronacharya, today’s teachers
Lucknow: The play ‘Ekk Aur Dronacharya' written by Shankar Shesh and directed by Privendra Kumar Singh was staged at the Bhartendu Natya Akademi on Monday. The play was presented by the students after a 45-day workshop. The play drew a contrast between today's teachers and Dronacharya. Set in contemporary backdrop, the story revolves around Arvind played by Amit Kumar Sagar, an honest teacher whose choices get influenced by the systemic pressures resulting in tragic consequences. Incidents like Draupadi's ‘cheer haran' and Dronacharyas silence are contrasted with the events happening in Arvind's life where he, just like Dronacharya chooses to stay silent. The play is a comment on the education system being turned into a business filled with political interferences and social hierarchies. The play, through intense emotional conflicts, questions the ethics of the existing education system.
