LUCKNOW: Hindi writer Pankaj Bisht was honoured with the Rahi Masoom Raza Literary Award in the city on Thursday.

The ceremony was organised to pay tributes to Raza on his 95th birth anniversary.

Bisht is known for works like Andhere se, Pandrah Jama Pacchis, Bacche gawah nahi ho sakte and Tundra Pradesh. His novel Lekin Darwaza was translated into Italian and published in the short novels collection.

He was felicitated in presence of Hindi writer Naresh Saxena. Bisht said: “Language helps in overall development of the society from religious to cultural, economic and political. New words can only be added when the society is working exceptionally well in both literature and science.”

Naresh laid stress on the need to promote Hindi.

Raza’s niece and nephew Shabnam Rizvi and Nadeem Hasnain and Vandana Mishra, president of Rahi Masoom Raza Sahitya Academy, was also present on the occasion.
