Nishad Party eyes 25 seats in C’garh polls

Lucknow: The Nishad Party is eyeing to expand its base beyond Uttar Pradesh and has begun working towards raising a strong organizational structure in Chhattisgarh where assembly polls are due this year.Party president Sanjay Nishad met the party workers of Chhattisgarh recently and told them to reach out to the fishermen community which comprises about 10% of the population in the Congress-ruled state. The party has also held events like ‘Kewat Samman’ to draw Nishad voters.The party plans to contest the Chhattisgarh elections in alliance with the BJP. The party plans to contest on 25 seats in Bilaspur and other Nishad-dominated regions.It had also contested two seats in 2018 assembly polls.

With or without Congress, SP to contest seven seats in MP polls

The Samajwadi Party (SP) is set to contest seven seats in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, despite its alliance with the Congress. This move has sparked excitement as the MP elections are expected to shape the seat-sharing talks between SP and Congress for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The SP chief, Akhilesh Yadav, will address a public meeting in Rewa district on September 27. The decision to field candidates in MP may be part of an understanding with the Congress, according to political analysts.

Party to decide from where Rahul will contest: Venugopal

The CPI has requested the Congress not to field Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad for the Lok Sabha polls, as it could weaken the INDIA front's fight against the BJP. However, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said it is up to the Congress to decide where Rahul will contest. The CPI's request comes after Rahul defeated their candidate in the last election. The CPM disagrees with the CPI, stating that each party has the right to choose its own candidates.

BJP MPs still unsure about contesting assembly polls

The Telangana BJP is facing challenges as senior leaders are undecided about contesting the upcoming assembly elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has urged party MPs to participate, but some leaders, including sitting MPs, have not committed. Despite receiving thousands of applications, the party has not released its candidate list. The reluctance of senior leaders to file applications raises questions about their consideration for tickets. BJP state chief G Kishan Reddy is also uncertain about his next move, while Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay may opt to contest the MP seat instead.
