Night shift worker assaulted, robbed of bike, mobile phone, cash
Lucknow: A night shift worker was allegedly assaulted and robbed of his motorcycle, mobile phone and cash by three unidentified men on a deserted road in Lucknow’s Nigohan area in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
According to police, Ajit Singh, a resident of Sehgon Paschim village in Raebareli district, was returning home after finishing his night shift duty around 3.20am when he was intercepted near Lalpur Dakhina Tower under Nigohan police station limits.
Police said the three accused, who were riding a motorcycle, forced the victim to stop on the lonely road before attacking him. The assailants allegedly beat him up and snatched his motorcycle, mobile phone and ₹500 cash before fleeing into the darkness.
The victim later approached Nigohan police station and lodged a complaint.
“Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered and an investigation has been launched,” police said.
Assistant commissioner of police (Mohanlalganj) Gyanendra Singh visited the spot and directed officers to expedite the investigation.
“Police teams have been formed to track down the accused. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned and technical surveillance along with local intelligence inputs are being used to identify the robbers,” the ACP said.
Police said efforts were underway to recover the stolen motorcycle and arrest the accused at the earliest.
